Ms. Sheppard, Mrs. Petley-Jones and I have spent the past two days reorganizing ourselves and our service delivery model.  Details on the "new model" will be shared tomorrow at the staff meeting.

The assembly today was great, thanks to the team for all your efforts.

New Beginnings

This fall has been filled with MANY opportunities for me to learn new things and meet new people.  It has also been a time for me to reflect on how amazing my experiences at HCS were, and how much I grew as a professional and a person because of the people I encountered in my time there.  Thank you to each of you for the influence you have had on my growth as a human being.  I will carry your teachings with me as I move forward on my journey!

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope that you all enjoy  the tea party this afternoon.  The students are sooo excited they can hardly contain themselves.

Thank you for rescheduling your work and all the other commitments in your day in order to join us, I know how tricky that can be sometimes.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Update

Hello all,

From speaking to your children it sounds like each of you enjoyed the Easter break.  We are on the final stretch of the year, I can't believe how quickly it has passed.

We have started a math unit on multiplication and division, give us another week and you will have wizards of skip counting eating dinner with you every evening.

In ELA we have spent time this week talking about and reading stories by Robert Munsch - his works will be the focus of the puppet show that takes place this Friday at 1:00!  Please come and join us, it promises to be amazing.

Of course the rest of our ELA time we have been working on poetry - only one week until the big oratory presentation - look for a note home today with details about time.

We have a spelling test tomorrow and on Monday of next week.

Here's to the snow melting and spring mud filling our homes.

Oratory

Thank you to those of you who have already sent your child's poem.  Please be sure to have something picked so you can practice it at home over the break, we will not spend time learning individual poems at school.

Unfortunately we will not be doing a three school competition this year due to unforeseen circumstances in Onion Lake and the pending "dirt work" that will take place for our gym in May.  On April 18th, the grade threes will present their coral poem to grade one and two and then we will present our individual poems to our classmates.  There will be judges at the classroom speak off, just like last year and those who place 1st to 3rd in both individual categories will perform at an assembly on Friday for all the K-6 students.

Parents are welcome to both events - details on times are still being worked out - it will be the afternoon of the 18th though and the morning of the 19th I am pretty sure.  If you come on the 18th you will see all the grade threes perform their poem  If you come the 19th you will see the gr 1-3 students who placed in their categories, and the coral poems.

More details to follow- the storm messed up some meeting times and with PTI tonight and tomorrow night we won't likely meet until Wed. to finalize the plan.

Thanks for your support and you patience.

Happy Friday

Most of the students in grade three are out of notebooks and are very close to needing new ones in at least 2 subjects.  If you have not sent extra notebooks since Christmas time, please do so as soon as possible. We are also out of forks and spoons for those days when there is not one in our lunch kit.  Please either send a box of each with your child, or be sure to pack one in their lunch each day so they don't have to use their fingers.

We have finished our Literature Circle projects and will begin a new ELA unit on Monday which focuses on world view and the impact of the First People on our culture.  Thanks for sending all the "stuff" for the final project.

It is looking like the grade three swim day will be in May, send the money asap and we will keep you in the loop about the date.  Mr. Feil was looking into it and should know next week.

Parent Teacher interviews are coming up on March 25 and 26.  If you know now that those dates don't work, let me know and we can meet ahead of time.

We will be doing oratory again this year.  Please start thinking about either helping your child create an original poem or finding a published poem for their individual poem.  I will select a class poem and hope to send it home before the Easter break for them to look at.
